Motiva Breast Implants Now Available in the United States

Motiva breast implants have a unique SmoothSilk® surface which reduces the body’s scar-forming response, thereby significantly lowering the incidence of capsular contracture (hardness).

The other silicone gel breast implants that are currently on the market have a capsular contracture incidence of over 10%. Capsular contracture makes the affected breast feel hard and appear rounder and higher. This creates a more ‘fake’, unnatural look. Additionally, if one breast has no contracture and looks natural, and the other one has a contracture and looks round and high, that’s a big problem cosmetically… the unique proprietary surface found on the Motiva implant induces the lowest amount of scar tissue formation (fibroblast growth) compared to the other implants’ surfaces on the market today.

Motiva Breast Implants® also have a unique gel that allows their round implants to take on a more teardrop shape when the person is sitting or standing upright, creating a very pleasing breast appearance by filling the lower pole of the breast preferentially. This is something that the teardrop shaped implants of the past tried to do, but often failed because they would rotate and then appear unnatural.

In September 2024, the FDA approved Motiva SmoothSilk® Round and Ergonomix® implants, expanding their availability to the U.S. after being widely used internationally since 2010.

In addition to all of the features noted above, Motiva implants also offer an option of including a microchip within the implant that can be read via infrared reader so that doctors own the road can have all of the relevant information that might be needed for any re-operation. Dr. Rapaport sees many patients for breast implant surgery revision and is always emphasizing that patients store their exact implant information which is vital, for example when revising one breast in order to match the other.
