BodyTite

When it comes to body contouring and achieving a slim, smooth figure, there are two main problems people are primarily concerned with: stubborn fat and skin laxity.

Liposuction has long been the gold standard for removing excess fat, but for many, it leaves behind loose skin. And excisional skin removal inevitably results in significant scarring. BodyTite is a minimally invasive treatment that makes body contouring possible with less downtime and scarring.

With this advanced technology, no long scars are required to see an improvement in loose skin. BodyTite harnesses the power of radiofrequency to tighten tissues and skin. We frequently pair BodyTite with liposuction for radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL), a treatment that simultaneously removes fat and tightens the fibers in between and around the fat cells.

Learn More About BodyTite

BodyTite is primarily a skin-tightening treatment. It can help reduce loose, sagging skin caused by pregnancy, weight loss, or age. Some patients may prefer it as a minimally invasive alternative to a tummy tuck.

We offer BodyTite for almost any part of the body where skin laxity is a concern. The technology can be used on the face and neck for an anti-aging effect, for which we use a miniaturized version of the system called FaceTite. Common treatment areas for BodyTite include:

  • Arms
  • Thighs
  • Abdomen
  • Lower Back
  • Buttocks
  • Knees
  • Calves
  • Inner thighs

Generally, BodyTite is best for mild to moderate skin laxity in patients at or near their ideal weight. It can also offer more dramatic results and help reduce fat when paired with liposuction.

BodyTite differentiates itself from other RF devices because the radiofrequency is delivered both internally and externally. The device features two probes, one that is inserted under the skin and one that glides over it. This means that heat energy transfer across the skin is precisely controlled, allowing for measurable improvements in skin tightness as collagen shrinks when heated.

The BodyTite system also offers unparalleled safety by continuously monitoring both internal and external tissue temperatures to prevent burns. Like liposuction, it requires small incisions, so it is considered a surgical procedure. However, BodyTite is minimally invasive and does not involve more incisions than regular liposuction. Though we most often perform it in combination with liposuction for the best body sculpting results, BodyTite can also be an effective standalone treatment for skin tightening.

Whether performed alone or with liposuction, a BodyTite procedure typically only requires local anesthesia. Patients can also receive IV sedation if preferred. One of our board-certified surgeons will make a small incision to insert one of the device probes while the other rests over the skin’s surface. These probes apply bipolar, directional energy through the collagen fibers that give your tissues structure and shape. This RF energy causes these connective tissues to shrink and contract.

This procedure is most often coupled with liposuction for several reasons. When accompanied by liposuction, the BodyTite handpiece can use the same small incisions for entry under the skin and local anesthesia. By liquefying fat cells before they’re removed by liposuction, BodyTite can make liposuction gentler and more effective. It can also counteract the skin laxity that liposuction may otherwise leave behind. Additionally, the RFAL technology kills fat cells as it interacts with them, and liposuction will suck out those dead fat cells, helping your body to clear them out for faster results.

Even when coupled with liposuction, BodyTite can be performed without general anesthesia and has very minimal downtime. Some bruising, swelling, and soreness are normal after the treatment, especially if liposuction is included. Temporary numbness is also possible.

Most patients can return to work in two to four days, though exact downtime will depend on the extent of the procedure. Full activity and strenuous exercise can be resumed in approximately one month. After a radiofrequency-assisted liposuction treatment, patients must wear a discreet compression garment under their clothes for around six weeks. This reduces swelling and promotes optimal results.

The effects of BodyTite are immediate, though they may be somewhat obscured initially by swelling and bruising. As these side effects fade, you can expect tighter, smoother skin in the treated area and reduced fat for liposuction procedures. Your body will continue to produce more collagen in response to the treatment for up to a year. For patients with cellulite, BodyTite and liposuction can improve the results of cellulite treatments since skin laxity and fat worsen the appearance of dimpling.

The full results from a BodyTite and liposuction procedure are typically visible in three months. These are long-lasting. Liposuction permanently removes fat, so patients can enjoy lifelong benefits if they maintain a stable weight. The skin-tightening results of BodyTite typically last years, though the skin will eventually sag with age.
