Learn More About CoolSculpting® Elite

As a safe, non-invasive treatment that requires no downtime, CoolSculpting® Elite is an ideal body sculpting option for most people. However, it is not a replacement for weight loss and is intended for targeting localized fat deposits. 

Dr. Rapaport, or a member of his team, helps each patient determine their candidacy in a personal consultation. He has over a decade of hands-on experience administering CoolSculpting® and is one of few providers given pre-release access to CoolSculpting® Elite. The best candidates for CoolSculpting® Elite are adults with visible fat bulges who are otherwise within a healthy weight range. CoolSculpting® has been extensively studied in clinical practice and is FDA-cleared to treat fatty tissue in nine different body areas. But how does it work exactly? 

Your body has a specific set number of fat cells that either get bigger or smaller as you put on or lose weight. Fat cells react to cold temperatures faster and at higher temperatures than the surrounding tissue. Consequently, the CoolSculpting® technology can freeze fat cells without harming skin or muscle. After treatment, up to 25% of the fat cells in treated areas freeze and start to die. These fat cells start to collapse, and in the months following your procedure, they are naturally flushed out of the body.

One of the great advances with CoolSculpting® Elite over the original CoolSculpting® technology is that the applicators have been redesigned to allow more significant tissue contact, greater suctioning power to reach the submental fatty tissue, and better cooling technology for faster freezing of fat cells. CoolSculpting® Elite is even more comfortable than its predecessor.

CoolSculpting® Elite is a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment that requires no anesthesia or incisions of any kind. The length of the treatment depends on how many areas you have treated, but with multiple CoolSculpting® Elite machines, we can treat several areas simultaneously for a more efficient, convenient experience. Most sessions last from 35 to 75 minutes, during which patients will experience little to no discomfort and have no recovery or downtime period. 

First, a member of Dr. Rapaport’s team will apply a protective gel pad to your treatment areas before placing the applicators. Each applicator uses vacuum pressure to suction the targeted fat to its surface, maximizing delivery precision. You may feel pressure and intense cold at first, but the treatment area soon becomes numb.

CoolSculpting® Elite offers a unique advantage over liposuction and many other body contouring procedures: no downtime and minimal side effects. Following the procedure, patients can swiftly return to their regular activities, including light workouts at the gym. 

Some numbness in the treated area is normal, typically subsiding within two to four weeks. Any redness caused by the cold typically vanishes within hours, although occasional minor bruising from the suction may persist for a few days. Some mild soreness or swelling in the treatment area is also possible for a couple of days.

The ease of recovery with CoolSculpting® Elite means it can easily integrate into a busy schedule without disrupting your daily life. We’ve successfully treated individuals who arrived directly from the airport, were preparing for public appearances, or had significant upcoming events. You can simply resume your daily routine right after treatment. However, we may advise against strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for 24 hours.

Patients typically start to see results as early as three weeks after their first treatment, and by three months after their last treatment session, they are seeing their very best results. It takes time for your body to filter out the damaged fat cells. Once it does, you’ll likely see a 20-25% fat reduction in the treatment area. 

Most patients need two or three sessions for optimal results. Once you achieve your ideal outcome, you can enjoy it for years to come. CoolSculpting® results are typically permanent as long as you maintain a stable weight. The treatment permanently removes fat cells, which cannot return.
