Ellacor® is FDA-cleared to treat wrinkles in adults of most skin tones. It’s an effective non-surgical treatment for mild to moderate sagging and crepey skin, making it ideal for middle-aged patients and those who aren’t ready for surgery. Unlike many non-surgical skin tightening treatments, this innovative method does not use thermal energy.

  • Are pregnant or nursing
  • Have recently had dermal filler injections
  • Take certain medications
  • Have certain medical conditions
  • Have open wounds or facial implants in the treatment area

While many skin-tightening treatments use radiofrequency or lasers to contract collagen fibers, Ellacor® doesn’t use thermal energy. Like microneedling, the device uses tiny needles to puncture the skin. Ellacor® takes this method a step further by using suction to remove tiny cores of skin. 

This micro-coring process can remove up to 8% of skin in the treatment area. The cores are less than half a millimeter in diameter. Your skin will immediately begin closing the tiny punctures, leaving the skin tighter and smoother while promoting collagen production for long-term benefits. 

At Rapaport Plastic Surgery, we optimize Ellacor® treatments with ultrasound guidance and topical PRP. This allows for the most precise treatment and faster recovery. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is drawn from the patient’s own blood and is rich in growth factors and stem cells that encourage healing and regeneration.

Ellacor® skin-tightening is a fairly fast, easy procedure. The entire treatment usually takes less than an hour. It’s usually performed on the lower or mid-face, or it can be used to target small problem areas of laxity and wrinkles. Your provider can adjust the intensity of the treatment, removing less or more skin as needed for your condition and goals.

We will first administer local anesthesia or a topical numbing cream to prevent discomfort. Once the skin is numb, the Ellacor® device is moved over the treatment area, creating a grid-like pattern of micro-cores. This process is ultrasound-guided and typically takes just a few minutes. The tiny punctures close quickly, requiring no bandaging. We’ll apply PRP topically, which soothes the skin and boosts healing.

Each patient’s recovery timeline depends on their personal rate of healing and the intensity of their treatment. Generally, patients take a few days to a week of downtime after Ellacor®. You may expect swelling, redness, and minor discomfort during this time. Keep the treatment area clean and moisturized with the products given to you by your provider for the first five to seven days. Avoid makeup for the first 72 hours following treatment. You should also limit sun exposure and use sunscreen to protect your skin.

Most patients need two to three Ellacor® sessions one month apart for the best outcome. As more collagen develops, you’ll likely see some improvements within a few weeks of the first treatment and optimal results in three to six months. Patients typically enjoy reduced wrinkles and firmer skin in the treatment area.

Ellacor® yields long-lasting results, especially with proper skincare and a healthy lifestyle. Using sunscreen and high-quality skincare products can help prolong your results. We may recommend occasional maintenance treatments for long-term improvement. Ellacor® can also be part of a personalized treatment plan involving other procedures, such as laser treatments or chemical peels, for comprehensive results.
