A HydraFacial® is a gentle treatment suitable for almost anyone. Whether you have dry, oily, mature, or acne-prone skin, a HydraFacial® can be tailored to your needs. Even those with sensitive skin can benefit from this facial. However, you may not be eligible for a HydraFacial® if you are pregnant, nursing, taking certain medications, or have certain skin conditions.

The final step of HydraFacial® is infusing the skin with a serum of vitamins, antioxidants, moisturizers, and other beneficial ingredients. Patients can choose a serum that best fits their skin concerns and goals. Consequently, HydraFacials® can be an ideal skincare treatment for various concerns, from blackheads to fine lines and wrinkles.

There are four components to a HydraFacial®: cleanse, exfoliate, extract, and infuse. This process uses a light chemical peel and vacuum suction to clear the pores of dead skin cells, oil, and debris. Then, the hydrating serum can penetrate the skin more effectively, infusing it with peptides, collagen, antioxidants, and other hydrating ingredients.

HydraFacials® are sometimes referred to as “hydradermabrasion” or “wet microdermabrasion” because, like microdermabrasion, it deeply exfoliates the skin and removes impurities and dead skin cells. However, a HydraFacial® is gentler than microdermabrasion and suitable for all skin types. Your provider may recommend microdermabrasion instead for deeper skin issues or more dramatic results.

All four steps of this spa-like treatment are performed with the HydraFacial® handpiece. You won’t need any numbing cream, and patients report that the HydraFacial® is a relaxing, comfortable experience. 

We will use the handheld device to cleanse your skin, apply an exfoliating chemical solution, clear your pores with vacuum suction, and infuse your skin with the chosen serum. Afterward, your provider will apply a soothing moisturizer and sunscreen, and the treatment is complete. A HydraFacial® typically takes just 30 minutes. However, patients often have other procedures performed during the same appointment, such as Botox® or dermal fillers.

You won’t need any downtime after a HydraFacial® and can expect little to no side effects. Some patients notice that their skin is slightly blotchy, dry, or red for a day or two. Dr. Rapaport’s team will provide aftercare instructions to manage these side effects if they occur and optimize your results. You should avoid harsh skincare products (such as retinol), exfoliation, and sun exposure for a couple of days.

Most patients enjoy immediate results. Your skin will likely look more hydrated and radiant after a HydraFacial®, and this glow lasts several days. With regular treatments, HydraFacials® can improve complexion concerns like uneven texture, wrinkles, and pigmentation. Many patients enjoy clearer skin and reduced acne with a series of HydraFacial® treatments.

HydraFacials® are often most effective when paired with other skin rejuvenation procedures, such as skin resurfacing or microneedling.
