The “Trifecta” is a state-of-the-art cosmetic treatment that can serve as a new, minimally invasive, rapid-recovery procedure, lifting drooping facial contours and smoothing and firming the complexion at once. It is especially useful for clients with laxity of the jaw and neck and some excess fat under the chin.

If you are looking for a solution to facial aging that is more comprehensive than injectables and fillers but don’t want the scarring and downtime of a surgical facelift, you may find Dr. Rapaport’s Trifecta to be the perfect solution. Patients who are beginning to see submental fat interfere with their silhouette, along with skin laxity and volume loss, will find the Trifecta to be highly effective. It is important to note that individual results will vary, and a patient’s expectations must take this into account.

The Trifecta procedure is safe for all skin types and tones. Though it is primarily intended for skin laxity, the treatment can also improve wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture.

The Trifecta isn’t just one treatment but a combination of three facial rejuvenation procedures to address multiple signs of aging. Depending on the patient’s needs, Dr. Rapaport may recommend all three procedures or just two. This three-tier approach makes for a customized, comprehensive anti-aging treatment that avoids the downtime and risk of surgery.

Tier 1: Morpheus8

The Morpheus8 technology is an advanced form of radiofrequency microneedling. Ultra-thin needles energized with radiofrequency deliver heat to the deeper layers of the skin. Collagen fibers contract, tightening the skin, and the heat promotes a healing response that increases collagen production over time.

This RF microneedling treatment can be uniquely customized, with the practitioner deciding exactly at what depth Morpheus8 will be administered and at what power levels. The procedure is appropriate for all skin types and tones thanks to Morpheus8’s unique needle sheathing (an ultra-thin coating with covers to the shaft of each needle so that energy is emitted only from the tip), which protects the skin surface. 

Morpheus8 can reduce unwanted fat while beautifully tightening and firming the skin, depending on the chosen depth of the needles. It can be instrumental in reshaping the jowls and the lower face, areas of facial aging that often cannot be adequately addressed with fillers and neuromodulators (Botox®).

Tier 2: FaceTite

FaceTite and AccuTite are newer radiofrequency tools designed to help reduce skin sagging in the face and neck. They are basically miniaturized versions of BodyTite, which has revolutionized body contouring. These tools can help treat submental fat, jowling, marionette lines, and other deep creases when Morpheus8 alone may not be enough. 

During FaceTite and AccuTite, bipolar radiofrequency energy travels between small probes under the tissues, causing tightening and fat reduction. Following FaceTite and Accutite, the body produces collagen, which creates a lasting tightening effect on the treated tissues.

Tier 3: Mini Liposuction

Mini or micro liposuction is generally paired with FaceTite, AccuTite, and Morpheus8 to carefully remove excess fat that causes bulges in the lower face and under the chin. The chin and neck are lean and angular in youth, but with aging and weight gain, these areas can lose definition. During liposuction of the lower face and neck, relative areas of fatty excess can be treated precisely.

Typically, the Trifecta treatment with all three tiers can be performed in under one hour without sedation or general anesthesia. Sedation or anesthesia is available for those who prefer it, however. We will apply a topical numbing cream before your Morpheus8 treatment to ensure your comfort.

Once the patient is comfortable, Dr. Rapaport will use the chosen technologies to perform the procedure. If you’re having AccuTite and liposuction, these can be done through the same small incisions, which Dr. Rapaport will strategically place to minimize visible scarring.

The best part of the Trifecta is that there is no lengthy downtime, anesthesia, or discomfort to deal with. However, each patient’s recovery experience will depend on their customized procedure and individual response. There may be slightly more downtime and side effects if you have all three tiers of the Trifecta than if you just have one or two.

Patients typically return to work within four days, depending on the extent of their procedure. You can expect some mild redness, swelling, and tenderness. If your treatment included liposuction, there may be minor bruising. Dr. Rapaport will give you detailed aftercare instructions. You should avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen while your skin heals.

The Trifecta treatment offers facelift-like results without the need for intensive surgery. Patients who undergo the full Trifecta can expect firmer, smoother skin and more youthful facial contours. Improved skin elasticity and reduced fat restore a defined jawline and slim neck, which are essential for a youthful appearance. Morpheus8 also minimizes fine lines and wrinkles by boosting collagen production.

You will see improvements as soon as any swelling and bruising subsides. However, full results may take a few months as your body produces more collagen in response to the treatment. These results are long-lasting. Liposuction permanently removes fat, and increased collagen levels often last a couple of years. Dr. Rapaport may recommend other treatments, such as microneedling or skin resurfacing, every few months to maintain your results.
