Out of Town Patients

World-renowned plastic surgeon Dr. David P. Rapaport is proud to serve a diverse group of patients. His work and the care given by his office have garnered him an international reputation from patients interested in having him perform their surgery.

At Rapaport Plastic Surgery, we understand that the needs of patients flying in for treatment can vary, and we are extremely experienced in meeting those needs, whatever they may be. We are here to help at every step of the way, from scheduling flights and hotels to private duty nurses and transportation services. Our goal for our out-of-town patients is to make your experience as worry- and hassle-free as possible.

If you will be staying in New York for a few days before your surgery, we are happy to provide suggestions of attractions to visit while you are in town. Located on Fifth Avenue, our practice is easily accessible to cabs, subways, and car services and is just across the street from Central Park.

The Consultation

Long-distance consultations with Dr. Rapaport can be arranged for any out-of-town patient. First, email or call the office expressing your interest in a virtual consultation. Let us know what procedure you are considering, when you are considering undergoing treatment, and how long you can stay in New York. Different procedures require different minimum lengths of stay.

Dr. Rapaport will need to review photographs of the areas of interest before the consultation. These are most commonly sent by email, but can also be sent by FedEx or other post. Once we receive the photographs and completed intake forms, we can schedule a telephone or virtual consultation. Dr. Rapaport will need to evaluate different views of the treatment areas before having a meaningful conversation about the procedure.

Face

Facial photographs should include front and side views as well as a close-up view of the eyes. The entire head should be visible down to the base of the neck.

Breast

Breast photographs should include a front view and an oblique view (45 degrees from the front) of each side. Each view should ideally go from the lower neck, with complete shoulders, down to the belly button.

Abdomen

Abdominal photographs should include front and side views of the entire abdomen from the bottom of the breasts to the upper thighs. If possible, also include a view with the hands and arms stretched straight upward.

Liposuction

Liposuction photographs should extend from the bottom of the breasts to the knees and include front and back views and side views if possible.

After the consultation with Dr. Rapaport, you can review the plans with Dr. Rapaport’s surgical coordinator. At that time, she will provide you with surgical fees, scheduling details, accommodations, and, if needed, private-duty nursing.

Private-Duty Nurses

For certain surgical procedures, Dr. Rapaport requires that our patients spend one night with one of our private-duty nurses. Our team of certified nurses will provide superb post-operative care. Your comfort and well-being are their only concerns. They will meet you in the recovery area following your surgery and escort you to your home or hotel. If you stay overnight in the hospital, they will stay in your room. Nurse fees vary, and you will be responsible for paying each nurse after their shift (check or cash only).

If you would like to arrange for private duty nurses, please let our office know.
