Rapaport,MD's patients commonly request Restylane™.  Restylane™ is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane™ is made of Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring sugar gel. Studies have shown that the average treatment results last six months. How is a Restylane™ treatment performed?
During Restylane™ treatment, the Restylane™ gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The gel produces volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. When enhancing lips or facial contours, Restylane™ adds volume and shape to the treated area.

What parts of my face can be treated with Restylane™?
Restylane™ can be used for smoothing out folds and wrinkles, lip enhancements and shaping facial contours. Commonly treated areas are the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth), the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), the droopy mouth corners, and thinning lips, although other sites can also be treated.

What will I look like after the treatment?
Immediately after the treatment, you can expect slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. Most of our patients can apply make-up the same night and have no need for recovery. After a lip treatment, the lips may become swollen and for a few days.

What preparation is needed prior to Restylane™ treatment?
Even though no allergy testing is needed, before receiving Restylane injections patients should avoid using aspirin, Vitamin E supplements and other medications that may thin the blood and can increase bruising.
